Knowledge — Devotional and Prayer — KJV Bible Study

Today, be a wise person in one thing: store up knowledge. Gather it into your heart the way a man stores up goods in his house, a little at a time, line upon line, a little here and a little there. Do not look down on the small portion; that is how God teaches. And pay attention to its goal. The goal is not to know many things, or to be wise in this world; the goal is to know God himself, and Jesus Christ whom he sent — because this is eternal life. So lay down your own thoughts and take his, because the humble he teaches, and the self-satisfied he cannot fill. Grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Whatever you know of him today, hold on to it; and try to know him better tomorrow. A knowing that is kept and grown is the treasure a wise person stores up. Search it out.

Lord, you are the God who teaches people knowledge, and no one ever taught you anything. So I come humbly, and empty of my own, so that you can fill me. Make me a wise person, storing up knowledge in my heart, and not a fool, feeding on foolishness. Teach me line upon line, a little here and a little there, and do not let me look down on the small portion. Rescue me from the knowledge that only puffs up, and give me the knowledge that builds up, carried in love. Above all, do not let me stop short at knowing about you; let me know YOU, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you sent, because this is eternal life. Shine in my heart, and give me the light of the knowledge of your glory in the face of Jesus Christ. And because the love of many people will grow cold, keep me growing and not giving up — let me hold on to the end and not become lukewarm, so that I may be found faithful, still learning from you, until the day of your glory. Amen.
